By creating an account, accessing a diagnostic test, or using Koi Prep, you (as a parent, legal guardian, or authorized educator on behalf of a student) agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.

Koi Prep is an independent educational publisher and software provider. We are not affiliated with the New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) or Pearson. References to "SHSAT" or "Specialized High Schools Admissions Test" are strictly descriptive of the examination for which our original study materials are designed.

2. Accounts, Parent Consent & Classroom Rosters

Family Accounts: Accounts for students under 18 must be created by, or with the verifiable consent of, a parent or legal guardian. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your sign-in credentials.

Tutoring Center & School Accounts: Educators using Koi Prep Studio or Classroom Access Codes represent that they have authority from their school or program and appropriate parental permission to enroll students in proctored practice sessions.

3. Subscriptions, Billing & 14-Day Refund Policy

Free Tier ($0): Includes the initial 2026 SHSAT Adaptive Diagnostic & Skill Map, 1 starter skill practice pack, and an estimated readiness score band.

Season Pass ($129 one-time payment): Provides full access to all 45 ELA & Math skill packs, immediate access to all 3 full-length 2026 adaptive practice tests, timed drills, mistake-log spaced repetition, weekly parent reports, and priority Koi AI Coach access through the Fall 2026 SHSAT test date. Does not auto-renew.

Monthly Plan ($29/month): Provides access to all 45 skill packs, 1 full-length adaptive practice test per month, and weekly parent reports, billed monthly until canceled. You may cancel at any time with one click or by emailing hello@koiprep.com, and your access will continue through the end of the current billing period.

14-Day Full Refund Guarantee: If Koi Prep is not the right fit for your family within 14 days of your initial purchase (and prior to completing a full-length practice exam), email hello@koiprep.com for a 100% refund—no questions asked.

4. Intellectual Property & Permitted Use

All reading passages, poetry, math problems, adaptive item variants, SVG geometric figures, 3-step Koi hint ladders, and software code on Koi Prep are owned by Koi Prep or licensed from public-domain sources and are protected by copyright and intellectual property laws.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Koi Prep for individual student preparation or authorized classroom instruction. You may not scrape, redistribute, resell, publish, or train external machine-learning models on Koi Prep questions or explanations without prior written permission.

5. Adaptive Score Estimates & Educational Disclaimer

Koi Prep uses Item Response Theory (IRT) computer-adaptive testing algorithms to estimate student proficiency (e.g., 200–700 composite scale and readiness bands). Because official NYC DOE SHSAT scaling and annual school cutoff scores vary each admissions cycle based on applicant pool performance and seat availability, Koi Prep score estimates are provided "as is" for study guidance only and do not guarantee any specific official test score or school offer.

6. Acceptable Use, Limitation of Liability & Contact

Users agree not to attempt to bypass exam navigation rules, probe or disrupt platform security, or interfere with live proctored sessions. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Koi Prep’s total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service during the 12 months preceding the claim.

5. Puntajes adaptativos estimados y descargo educativo

Koi Prep utiliza algoritmos de Teoría de Respuesta al Ítem (IRT) para estimar el nivel del estudiante. Debido a que la escala oficial del NYC DOE y los puntajes de corte anuales de cada escuela varían en cada ciclo de admisión, las estimaciones de Koi Prep se proporcionan solo como guía de estudio y no garantizan un puntaje oficial específico ni una oferta de admisión.

6. Uso aceptable, limitación de responsabilidad y contacto
